Proxima Transmission

Several transmission choices are available:

· A smooth shifting synchronized transmission with 10 forward and 2 reverse speeds is available on some models

· Fully synchronized mechanical shuttle transmission is standard on most models. It has 12 speeds forward and 12 reverse and improves the productivity of loader work dramatically.

· Open station models 6421 use a partially synchronized transmission. Synchronizers are used only in the two highest gears, where they are needed most. The slower gears, which are rarely shifted on the go, are not synchronized. This transmission is also offered with 10 forward and 2 reverse speeds, or as shuttle transmission with 12 forward and 12 reverse speeds.

The speed in high gear has been increased to shorten travel times between work sites (approx. 20 mph at high idle).

All gear shift levers are at optimized locations on the sides, leaving the floor clear and free of obstacles.

A mechanical synchronized shuttle reverser*) is optional in all models, designed for loader work. Shuttle transmissions have 12 forward and 12 reverse speeds. Reverse speeds are slightly faster than forward speeds, for shorter cycles and better productivity. The shuttle shift lever is conveniently located on the left side of the seat, leaving your right hand free to operate loader controls.

The mechanical differential lock is on cab models engaged by an electro-pneumatic system and a switch on the dashboard. The differential lock is automatically disengaged by touching the brake pedals. Zetor's unique pneumatic system (unlike hydraulic control systems) is very simple. It is mounted externally - that means it is also very easy to service.

Open station tractors use a mechanical differential lock control by a pedal.

Inside the transmission, the same rugged, heavy, high-grade components and materials are used which made Zetor Range 1 tractors famous for reliability and long life. The very same gears from the 90 HP transmission are used on all models, even those with 60 HP.
Zetor transmissions are built to last. Simple, all-mechanical design with no complicated hydraulically shifted elements means easy servicing with no special tools, greatly reducing maintenance costs over long periods of time.

All models are available with heavy duty, center drive shaft, mechanical front wheel drive. Front axle carrying capacity on both MFWD and 2WD models is more than adequate for even the most demanding loader work. The drive shaft is fully shielded. The front drive axle with a very tight 55-degree turning angle provides turning radius comparable to 2WD tractors - a great advantage for loader work. Powerful hydrostatic steering will easily handle even loader tractors.

With optional industrial tread tires shown here, the platform and the tractor enter of gravity are further lowered. At the same time, very wide settings of rear wheels are possible, to improve stability on steep slopes.

*) Early production is equipped with non-synchronized shuttle
